Ibn e Sina, the Persian physicist and philosopher, discussed in a text Canon of Medicine the black cumin seed which is considered to be an outstanding publication in human medical history and was used as the main European medical literature until the 17th century. The Prophet of Islam, Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) who is seen as one of the most influential figures in history, reportedly said as narrated by Abu Huraira (R.A):
I have heard from Rasool Allah (PBUH) that,” There is a cure for every disease in black seeds except death and black seeds are Shooneez.”
Ibn Hajar, the famous Islamic scholar in his interpretation of the Hadith said:
“The logic behind the black seed being healing for all diseases is not necessarily that it is to be used on its own for every ailment; rather it may be used on its own or it may be used with other things; it may be used ground up or otherwise; it may be used in food or drink or nose drops or a compress and otherwise. And it was said that the words every disease mean that every disease is treatable with it.”
Salim Bin Abdullah (R.A.) narrates with reference to his father Hazrat Abdullah Bin Omar (R.A.) that Rasool Allah (PBUH) said, “Let fall these black seeds upon you, these contain a cure for all diseases except death.”
Black Cumin in Science
The black cumin seeds are renowned for their miraculous healing powers and are utilized for various diseases. The famous health benefits of black cumin have proven wide-ranging. Many were only evaluated in tube or animal trials. Even though further research is needed, you may have a good impact on numerous elements of your health by adding or taking black cumin as a supplement.
The main active element of the Black Cumin Seeds is Thymoquinone, which can also have tumor-reduction capabilities as an anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory substance. Black cumin is also indicated for usage in cancer patients, thus for treating a number of tumors, inflammations.
In October 1999, the European magazine of Cancer published an article on the effect of thymoquinone on abdomen cancer in rats. Likewise, in May 1998, a magazine specialized in anti-cancer researches published an article on the extracts of the Black Seed as a treatment for cancer tumors. On April 2000, the Ethanol Medical magazine wrote about the toxicity and immunity effects of ethanol extracted from the Black Seeds. Also, in February 1995, Medical Plants magazine published an article on the effects of the Black Seed stable oil and thymoquinone on white blood cells. Many other researches came out supporting these facts.
The Black Seed has also been identified as high in the above nutrients by Dr. Michael Tierra, author of Planetary Herbology. Moreover, a significant amount of sterols were discovered, in particular beta-sitosterol, known to have anti-cancerous characteristics. Black Seed has a multitude of beneficial qualities, including antihistamines, antioxidants, antibiotics, antimycotics and broncho-dilatory effects, finds in The Journal of American Scientists.
Khalid bin Sa’d (R.A.) said, “We went out and with us was Ghalib bin Abjar (ra). He fell sick along the way and when we came to al-Madinah, he was sick. Ibn Abu ‘Atiq (ra) came to visit him and said to us, ‘You should use this black seed. Take five or seven (seeds) and grind them then apply them to his nostrils with drops of olive oil on this side and on this side for Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated to them that she heard the Messenger (saw) say, “This black seed is a cure for every disease except death.” [Saheeh Sunan ibn Majah (3449)].
Ibnul Qaiyum (may Allah have mercy upon him) said, “It has immense benefits and his statement that it is a cure for every disease except death is like the statement of Allah.”
Anti-Inflammatory
As early as 1960, Professor El-Dakhakny reported that Black Seed Oil has an anti-inflammatory effect and that it could be useful for relieving the effects of Arthritis. In 1995, a group of scientists at the Pharmacology Research Laboratories, Department of Pharmacy, Kings College, London, decided to test the effectiveness of the fixed Oil of Nigella Sativa and its derivative, thymoquinine, as an anti-inflammatory agent. Their study found that the oil inhibited eicosanoid generation and demonstrated anti-oxidant activity in cells.
In 1997, studies conducted at the Microbiological Unit of the Research Center, College of Pharmacy, King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, found that externally in an ointment form, the anti-inflammatory activity of the Black Seed was found to be in the same range as that of other similar commercial products. The tests also demonstrated that the Black Seed is non-allergenic.
Promotes Lactation
A study by Agarwhal (1979) showed that Black Seed Oil increases the milk output of breastfeeding mothers. A literature search by the University of Potchefstroom (1989), including biological abstracts, revealed that Black Seed’s capacity to increase the milk flow of nursing mothers could be attributed to a combination of lipid portion and hormonal structures found in the Black Seed. “Our beloved Prophet (PBUH) said: “For every disease there is a remedy and when the remedy is made apparent, and then the disease is cured by the permission of Allah Almighty'”. (Muslim)
He also said : “He who has put diseases on the earth, has also put its remedy there”. [Tirmidi]
Ibnul Qaiyum (may Allah have mercy upon him) said, “The black seed helps against all types of cold ailments… when ground, blended with honey and drunk with some water, it will dissolve the stones that appear in the kidney and the prostate…it increases the flow during menstruation and the production of milk if it is drunk for several days… When it is heated with vinegar and placed on the stomach it will eliminate worms. It also clears up, decomposes and relieves cold symptoms when it is ground, placed in a rag and inhaled through the nose on a regular basis until the ailment is cured. Black seed oil… when twenty-five grams of it is drunk with water, it will help against gasping and hard breathing…”[Translated ‘Medicine of the Prophet’ by Ibnul Qaiyum (may Allah have mercy upon him)
The same narration is found in Sanad-e-Ahmed from Hazrat Aisha (R.A.) and in Ibn-al-Jozi & Tirmizi from Abu Huraira. Hazrat Buraida narrates that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) stated “Shooneez is a cure for all ailments except death.”
This emphasizes the significance of Black Seeds in Islamic history for healing, protection and makes one realize, the potent nature of this heavenly plant that can do wonders to the human body.
The effectiveness of the Black Seed is being investigated further. In other nations, research trials are also planned to explore its real human impacts. We do not, however, have to search beyond the words of Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam (may Allah rejoice in his mention) of the Prophet which tell you there is healing. As long as we trust in Allah (may Allah elevate his mention), we all will show the ability that a great plant may treat all diseases, as long as we trust Allah and take his prescription
Amazing Fruit Dates
Dates are rich in Vitamin C, Magnesium, Sulfur, Fiber, which greatly enhance the wrinkles that increase with age. Not only can it reduce the appearance of wrinkles, but if you eat dates regularly, it can slow down the appearance of wrinkles.
Eating dates regularly is good for heart disease. The calcium present in dates helps to keep the teeth well. Dates produce blood and meet the body’s blood needs. Helps to digest food, enhances appetite. Dates contain vitamin C which keeps hair and skin healthy. Protects the lungs as well as prevents oral cancer.
Eating dates during pregnancy helps to overcome the complications of childbirth by causing rapid contraction and expansion of the uterine muscles during childbirth. This fruit also keeps the body healthy by reducing postpartum constipation and bleeding.
There are many more benefits of dates, the ideal food rich in natural sugars for the body tired of hunger pangs. Dates not only provide quick energy to make the tired body functional but also cure many diseases.
Describing the Benefits of Nutritious Dates The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Hazrat Saad ibn Abi Okkas (may Allaah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Can’t. ‘(Bukhari and Muslim)
Moreover, eating dates is also the Sunnah of the beloved Prophet (S.A.W.). Therefore, to meet the nutritional needs of food and to survive from poisoning and magic, it is better to eat any date, including the ‘ajwa’ date declared in the hadith.
During fasting, one has to stay on an empty stomach for a long time, due to which the body needs a lot of glucose. This deficiency is easily filled as dates contain a lot of glucose. Dates increase nervous strength by eliminating physical weakness very quickly. Hot or cold fever or contagious fever, sore throat or cold problem, dates fighting against shortness of breath. Dates have many properties. Dates contain water, minerals, carbs, sugars, calcium, iron, vitamin B-16, vitamin B-28 and a small amount of vitamin C. Since dates are rich in nutrients, they need to be on the food list not only during the month of Ramadan but throughout the year to keep the body healthy.
Narrated by Hazrat Aisha (R.A.): “The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, “If you break the fast of the morning by eating the azwa dates of Al-‘Aliyah, it works as a cure for all kinds of magic or poisoning.” (Musnad Ahmad, Hadith 23592)
Ibn Qayyim wrote in his book Tibb al-Nabawi: “For the people of Al-Madinah, dried dates are their main food, just as wheat is the staple food of other people. Which is nutritious and has medicinal properties, which is conducive to the body of most and plays a vital role in the production of natural heat, and does not produce harmful wastes like dates, other foods and fruits, but protects body wastes from decomposing, especially for those accustomed to eating dried dates “
Miracles in Olive Oil
Olive oil is a major component of the diet of the countries surrounding the Mediterranean Sea. For the people living in this region, olive oil is the main source of fat in their cuisine. In the past few years the oil has also become more popular among consumers in Northern Europe, the US and Canada, in particular, although these new consumers are not always familiar with the properties and characteristics of this natural product. Growing enthusiasm for the Mediterranean diet and for olive oil is due largely to studies indicating that this diet plays a positive role in the prevention of certain diseases, especially coronary heart disease. Chemical and analytical work to elucidate the structure and to quantify minor constituents of olive oil is now progressing rapidly.
Culinary uses and consumption
In the last five years, the world’s olive oil production peaked at 2.5 million tons. The top producers are Spain, Italy, Greece, Tunisia, Turkey, Syria, Morocco, Algeria, Portugal, and Jordan. Argentina, Croatia, Lebanon, Libya, Palestine, and, to a lesser extent, Cyprus, Mexico, and the United States, produce less. Global consumption averaged 2.37 million tonnes between 1996 and 2000. (International Olive Oil Council 2001). The EU accounts for 71% of this consumption, with the US accounting for 6%, Syria accounting for 4%, Turkey accounting for 3%, Algeria accounting for 2%, Tunisia accounting for 2%, Morocco accounting for 2%, and others accounting for 9%. The primary producing countries, Spain, Italy, and Greece, have the highest overall and per capita annual consumption.
A remarkable stability in Virgin Olive Oil is possible to preserve for 18 months or more. A broad range of flavor notes and color hues as well as various characteristics are associated with rancor development resistance due to the variances in the olive cultivars which extract the oil. These features give chances with little or no processing for a number of cooking applications. Olive oil adds flavor which are displayed all over the food. A nice olive oil mixes with the green vegetables well. Traditional cuisines include vegetables from the season, different greens, pets and grains. Olive oils of herbal flavor are generally preferred in vegetarian meals. For salads a strong hint of apple is appropriate, while a peppery flavor is preferable for grilled meats. For individuals that have appreciated sensory features such as mouth feel, fragrance, taste and aftertaste, and developed their own unique preferences, other foods such as pie, mayonnaise and fried eggs require distinct flavors.

“By the fig and the olive and [by] Mount Sinai, And [by] this city of security [Makkah]. Verily, We have certainly created man in the best of stature.” ( Surah Tin:1-4).
Olives are a gift to mankind from the sky (Jannah). Olives are believed to be extremely important in Islam as well, apart from the date fruit. A number of occasions both in the Quran and in the Hadith, the olive and it’s tree were referenced. Olive is regarded in Islam as a “blessed” fruit, but as a good food source, is also utilized as a food for health and is utilized for “ruqyah.”
Olives in Holy Quran
Olives have been mentioned seven times in the Qur’an. This indicates the worth it holds. One of the mentions was in the following ayat:
“And He it is who causes gardens to grow, [both] trellised and untrellised, and palm trees and crops of different [kinds of] food and olives and pomegranates, similar and dissimilar. Eat of [each of] its fruit when it yields and give its due [zakah] on the day of its harvest. And be not excessive. Indeed, He does not like those who commit excess.” [ Surah Anaam:141]
Another verse highlights the luminescent property of olive oil, powerfully illustrated in the Noble Qur’an:
“Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The example of His light is like a niche within which is a lamp, the lamp is within glass, the glass as if it were a pearly [white] star lit from [the oil of] a blessed olive tree, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil would almost glow even if untouched by fire. Light upon light. Allah guides to His light whom He wills. And Allah presents examples for the people, and Allah is Knowing of all things.” (Surah Nur: 35).
The olive tree, one of the blessings of the plant kingdom, not only has nutritional, medicinal and cosmetic value; it also fulfils a religious function as a sign (ayah) of Allah(SWT).
“He causes to grow for you thereby the crops, olives, palm trees, grapevines, and from all the fruits. Indeed, in that is a sign for people who give thought.” ( Surah Nahl:11).
Olives in Hadith
There is great significance of olives and its oil in Hadith. The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said:
“Eat olive oil and use it on your hair and skin, for it comes from a blessed tree.” (al-Tirmidhi, 1775)
Health benefits of olives have been propounded in Prophetic medicine. The Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) is reported to have said:
“Take oil of olive and massage with it – it is a blessed tree.” (Darimi, 69:103).
Olives in Researches
Like the date, the olive is of considerable importance in historical and contemporary society. In the Mediterranean civilization “for a number of thousand years it has serviced everything from money to medicines” (Zwingle, 1999)
The Mediterranean diet, rich in olive oil, has been acclaimed since the 1950s. While cholesterol (Assmanm and Wahrburg) has always been supported as helpful, it is now increasingly associated with blood pressure lowering. Olive products have a really amazing medicinal and cosmetic application. The oil is exceptionally nutritious and it is advised “to increase the fat balance in the blood” by dieticians (Adams 2001) as well as in cholesterol reduction.
“And [We brought forth] a tree issuing from Mount Sinai which produces oil and food for those who eat.” (Surah Muminoon:20)
Liquid Gold Honey Boosts Immunity
Honey has been widely used for its therapeutic properties, as a natural product. It’s only nectar collected by bees from the petals of various flowers. For hundreds of years, Honey has been a common sweetener for food and a strong medicine tool.
Effects of honey on the Immune System
Honey consumed has been suggested to affect the human immune response and related systems via many favorable effects. Honey was actually shown to support the propagation of human peripheral blood B and T lymphocytes and the activation of neutrophils under cell culture conditions (Abuharfeil, 1999).
Honey has been found to promote an inflammatory cytokine release, including the alpha-factor of tumor necrosis, interleukin-1β and interleukin-6 (Tonks et al., 2003). can stimulate a multitude of immune response actions against infection (Molan, 2002). In mice, the ingestion of a honey-additioned meal has also been reported to increase the generation of antibodies against thymus-dependent and independent antigens, both during primary and secondary immunological responses (Waili and Haq, 2004).
Nutritional benefits
Honey has been observed to improve physical performance and fatigue resistance, especially for repeated efforts; it also contributes to increased mental effectiveness. The healthy as well as the sick are therefore employed for any type of weakness, in particular for digestive or assimilative difficulties. Healthier growth of newborn babies that are not breastfeed, improved bones and anaemia and anorexia can all be a factor in some nutritional advantage or encouragement of food melancholy (Krell, 1996).
Advantages of the Digestive System
Studies of several gastrointestinal illnesses have reported beneficial treatment. Honey is known to increase food assimilation and help for chronic and infectious diseases of the intestines such as constipation, duodenal ulcers and liver disorders (Haffejee, 1985).
Study shows that honey is a well-known cure for colds and mouth, throat or bronchial irritation and infections in temperate climates, and regions with significant temperature variations. The benefits are supposedly related to the calming and relaxing impact of fructose, besides antimicrobial effects (Krell, 1996).
Eye Disease Benefits
A study has shown that honey lowers and cures eye cataracts, conjunctivitis and many corneal diseases when administered directly to the eye and clinical cases or traditional claims (Mikhailov, 1950). The antioxidant properties of honey and conventional therapy in alkaline damage on New Zealand White rabbits were explored and compared by one study (Bashkaran et al., 2011).
Medicine of Ayurveda
Use honey mainly as a means to quickly absorb several medicines like herbal extracts. Secondly, certain specific disorders, especially connected to respiratory irritation and infections, mouth sores and eye cataracts, should also be treated. It also acts as an overall tonic for young and old, convalescent and hard-working farmers and newborn children (Narayana, 1970).
It is said that certain authors or scientists regarded sweetheart as food rather than as medication since, most of the aforementioned advantage may be defined as nutritional effects of any kind, at least for internal consumption. On the other hand, our scientific understanding of cause and effect usually only confirms whether a single substance has significantly defined symptoms, if it is much too narrow to possible explain more complicated and subtle, especially synergistic interactions (Krell, 1996).
Energetic and Non-energetic Nutrients of Honey
Research has shown that as food, sweet maltose consists principally of simple sugars, which provide a basis for nearly every indication of how, when and why they should be employed. Honey rapidly offers calories from which its energy value is obtained for healthy and sick people: rapid energy access without lengthy or complex digestive activity. The same direct absorption also carried a danger of disordered sugar metabolism such as diabetes and obesity. Considering non-energetic nutrients, it is recommended that sometimes honey should have any major complement in a deficient diet because of its ingredients in other nutrients such as vitamins and minerals (Krell, 1996).
Antibacterial Activity of Honey
The antiseptic substances (i.e. propolis) have been employed as honey and beehive-related substances since at least Aristotle time (Molan, 2002). Although honey has an obvious anti-microbial ability, as demonstrated via its efficient inhibits bacterial and fungal proliferation and development, there appears to be no convincing cause suggesting that the antioxidant components present could have a combination or synergic impact (Viuda-Martos et al., 2008).
Because of his stunning formulation, Honey is actually dubbed liquid gold. However, these honey benefits were just found by new age science, whereas in the Quran, dating back many years, the advantage of honey in Islam has been revealed. Honey is one of the Paradise meals, while the Qur’an speaks explicitly of Jannah’s honey flowing rivers.
Turning to the words on sweetness and healing found in the Quran, sweetness is demonstrated by experts to be a painless way to cure diseases and burns. Honey not only helps to develop new cell tissues and so provides a complete healing process. It’s a great sweetheart miracle.
Allah, the Almighty, has placed so much importance and shifa in Honey that he revealed an entire Surah by the name of Bees – Surah Al Nahl in which he says,
“Your Lord revealed to the bees: “Build dwellings in the mountains and the trees, and also in the structures which men erect. Then eat from every kind of fruit and travel the paths of your Lord, which have been made easy for you to follow.” From inside them comes a drink of varying colours, containing healing for mankind. There is certainly a Sign in that for people who reflect.” (Qur’an, 16:69)
Allah subhanahu wa ta’la ordered the bees to make honey which will be the healing for mankind.
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) once said,
“By Him in whose hand is my soul, eat honey, for there is no house in which honey is kept for which the angels will not ask for mercy. If a person eats honey, a thousand remedies enter his stomach, and a million diseases will come out. If a man dies and honey is found within him, fire will not touch his body.” (Chaghhayni M. Tibb al-nabbi. Trans. C Elgood. Osiris 1962; 14: 188)
Health benefits of honey also circulate to us through hadeeth, many of which recommend honey as medicine providing cure for many diseases and a complete shifa.
Narrated by Abu Said Al-Khudri (R.A.): “A man came to the Prophet and said, “My brother has some abdominal trouble.” The Prophet said to him “Let him drink honey.” The man came for the second time and the Prophet said to him, ‘Let him drink honey.” He came for the third time and the Prophet said, “Let him drink honey.” He returned again and said, “I have done that. ‘ The Prophet then said, “Allah has said the truth, but your brother’s abdomen has told a lie. Let him drink honey.” So he made him drink honey and he was cured.”
Returning to the Quran’s statements on honey and healing, doctors have demonstrated that honey is a painless way to heal wounds and illnesses. Honey also aids in the regeneration of new cell tissues, resulting in total healing. This is a gigantic honey miracle.
“There are two cures for you: honey and the Qur’an.” (Ibn Majah M. Sunan)
Subhan Allah, the words of Allah and his Prophet are definitely true. And thus, we see how Allah has blessed us with one of his many wonders that lie in honey.
Lessons From Surah Kahf
Allah says in Quran:
جِنَّا جَعَلْنَا مَا عَلَى الْأَرْضِ زِينَةً لَهَا لِنَبْلُوَهُمْ أَيُّهُمْ َْحْسَنُ عَمَلًا
“Everything on earth, I have made everything beautiful for the world. So that I may test them as to which of them is best in deed. ” (Surah Al-Kahf:7)
Why did Allah Ta’ala tell those young people to live in a cave isolated from society? In fact, they went to the cave to unite, not to be separated. Even if those young people of the Companions of Kahf all lived in the same society, they could not get together. In that society, there was no opportunity for religious youth to unite. That is why Allah Ta’ala advised them to go to a safe distance or to a cave in a mountain and unite.
Allah Ta’ala did not just advise those young people to walk in unison. After narrating the incident, the verses that are instructive for us also say that the good people will come out from the bad people of the society and all of them will live together in unity. Allah Ta’ala says –
“Be patient with those who call on their Lord in the morning and in the evening, seeking His pleasure. Do not turn your eyes away from them for the beauty of this worldly life. Thou shalt not obey him whose mind is oblivious to My remembrance, who follows his own instincts and whose activity is to transgress.” (Surah Al-Kahf:26)
In order to survive from the various temptations of the society, the good people have to get out of the circle of the bad people of the society and live together as an organization. In this way, even though the beauty of the world is less, it becomes possible to live in peace. There are a total of four instructive incidents in this surah, each of which contains advice for intelligent people.
(1) The Incident of the Cave-dwelling Youths: At the beginning of the Surah, the incident of the cave-dwelling youths who lived in a town whose inhabitants were disbelievers and transgressors is described. So the young people decided out of disgust towards the corrupt society, ‘No more with them’. Encouraged by their love for Allah and their religion, they migrated from there. God sheltered them in caves and protected them from the sunlight. When they woke up many years later, they saw that the unbelievers of that town had departed and that the good people had been replaced by the bad people..
(2) The Story of the Owner of Two gardens: A man whom Allah blessed with two abundant beautiful gardens, but the man forgot to give thanks to Allah and even doubted Allah’s promise of the existence of the Hereafter. So, Allah Ta’ala deserted the garden of this ungrateful man – he repented, but it was already too late and his remorse for this untimely time was of no use to him. Allah Almighty properly defines the state of the worldly things in the Quran:
“And present to them the example of the life of this world, [its being] like rain which We send down from the sky, and the vegetation of the earth mingles with it and [then] it becomes dry remnants, scattered by the winds. And Allah is ever, over all things, Perfect in Ability.” (18:45)
(3) The Story of Khizir (A.S.) and Musa (A.S.): When Musa (peace be upon him) was asked, ‘Who is the wisest man in the world?’ He replied, ‘I’… Whom Allah has given more knowledge than he (Moses). Musa (A.S.) traveled with the man and saw how many times Allah, due to His infinite knowledge, caused many things that seemed bad to us but were actually done for the good of mankind.
(4) Zulkarnain: This is the case of the powerful king who was given knowledge and power at the same time and he used it for the benefit and welfare of the people as a thank you for both the gifts. He solved the problem of Yajuz Majuz for the people of the town and built a huge wall.
In the middle of the surah, Allah reminds Iblis that these tests are more difficult-
‘When I said to the angels -‘ Prostrate to Adam ’, everyone prostrated except Iblis. He was one of the jinn. He disobeyed the command of his Lord. So do you take him and his offspring as friends instead of me? But they are your enemies. That is the worst recompense for the wrongdoers. ‘(Surat al-Kahf, verse 50).
Trail of Faith and People of the Cave
“And keep yourself patient [by being] with those who call upon their Lord in the morning and the evening, seeking His countenance. And let not your eyes pass beyond them, desiring adornments of the worldly life, and do not obey one whose heart We have made heedless of Our remembrance and who follows his desire and whose affair is ever [in] neglect.” (18:28)
The Qur’an is full of oceans of wisdom and inspiration, and stories like this are included as lessons for us to learn from. It also explains the strategy we should adopt when studying sacred knowledge. Surah Kahaf is one of the most well-known Surahs in the Quran. Aside from the specific pleasures and advantages that come with its recitation, a Muslim’s grasp of its content can also enable them extract significant teachings that can help them shape their lives in the direction of righteousness.
Qurbani: Lessons of Sacrifice
Sacrifice has been practiced since ancient times. It has a lot of greatness and significance. The word qurbani means sacrifice or renunciation. Basically, Eid-ul-Azha is about sacrificing the bestiality of one’s heart through animal sacrifice and accepting sacrifice to gain the pleasure of Allah.
This is a good worship and obligation. And the Prophet (PBUH) said in a hadeeth, “There is nothing dearer to Allah than shedding blood on the Day of Sacrifice. That person will appear on the Day of Resurrection with the horns, hooves and hairs of the sacrificial animal. Before the blood of the sacrifice falls to the ground, it reaches a special place in the sight of Allah. Therefore purify yourselves by the stream of sacrifice (Tirmidhi); The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also said that he who did not make a sacrifice in spite of his ability should not come near our Eidgah ”(Ibn Majah).
The practice of sacrificing one’s son Ismail (A.S.) by the Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.) is the beginning of the current sacrifice. The life of the Muslim nation is like a sacrifice in the Islamic Sharia. This can be a sacrifice – of life, property, wealth, time, interest, ability, will and animal slaughter. Sacrifice is the glory of selfishness, wealth and self-sacrifice for the sake of Allah. The great day of the historical sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him) teaches that true love is not in wealth, not in suffering but in sacrifice. The real happiness is in giving up what others have. Eid-ul-Azha does not mean merely killing animals but a pledge of sacrifice. Allah accepts the sacrifices of the pious. The purpose of sacrifice is to surrender to Allah. Animal sacrifice is a symbol of self-sacrifice. The slaughter of sacrificial animals is really symbolic. Allah Himself has said that nothing of the flesh, skin or blood of an animal reaches him. Only taqwa and abstinence of the servant arrives. Not only animals, but also animal sacrifices have to be made. Inside every human being there is a ferocious animal called Ammara in the nafs, which constantly incites people to do wrong and sinful deeds and turns the soul into a sinful soul. Animalism is the unclean soul, that is, the sinful soul. The human soul is full of sin, the collective name of which is bestiality. First of all, after sacrificing this sinful soul, that is, bestiality, the animal should be sacrificed. It is known from history that this custom was introduced through the sacrifice of two children of Hazrat Adam (A.S.), the original father of the human race. Allah says in Quran:
وَطْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ ابَدَامَ بِالْحَقِّ ِْذْ قَرَّبَا قُرْبَانًا فَتُقُبِّلَ مِن أَحَدِهِمَا وَلَمْ يُتَقَبُ
“When they offered some sacrifices out of fear, the offerings of one of them were accepted and not of the other.” (Surat al-Ma’ida: 27) Then all the Prophets were commanded to sacrifice. The last sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S.) was the best sacrifice in human history. Which was so pleasing to Allah that He made sacrifice obligatory for the able-bodied of the whole human race. This teaching reminds us of the religious and moral values and great ideals in the Muslim family. Hajj and Qurbani ceremonies are meant to inspire the Muslim nation with these values.
In the Qur’an, Allah Ta’ala says, “Their flesh and blood never reach Allah, but your taqwa reaches them” (Surah Al-Hajj: 38). This line of sacrifice bears the sacred memory of the incomparable devotion and wonderful sacrifice of the Prophets Ibrahim (A.S.) and Ismail (A.S.).
The real sign of Allah’s love Allah Ta’ala says, “Surely my prayers, my sacrifice, my life and my death are all for Allah Ta’ala, the Lord of the whole world.” (Surah An-Am, verse 162).
All Muslims in the World are One Body
The beloved Prophet (PBUH) instructed the Ummah to walk with mutual respect and importance. At the same time, he encouraged them to take care of each other’s sorrows, problems and difficulties and to meet and benefit each other’s needs, big and small, as much as possible.
Hazrat Abu Musa (R.A.) agreed about the mutual bond of the believers. In a hadith narrated from, he said, the Prophet (PBUH) said, “One believer is like a wall for another believer, one part of which holds the other part in a strong masonry. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) showed the example by inserting the finger of one hand into the finger of the other hand.” (Saheeh Bukhari and Saheeh Muslim)
The Prophet (PBUH) did not give any instruction or responsibility to another which he did not fulfill himself. Therefore, the mentioned qualities were fully present in him. It is the significant Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to possess these habits and humanity. Which we do not consider very much in the list of circumcision.
Narrated from Hazrat Numan Ibn Bashir (R.A.), he said, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “The example of the believers’ love, grace, heart and sincerity is like a body. When one part of the body is injured or injured, all the parts of the body fall asleep and become tired and tired.” (Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim)
Narrated from Hazrat Abu Musa (R.A.), he said, “The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said,’ Whoever walks in our mosques or markets with arrows, etc., must cover or wrap the sharp part of it with his hand or something so that it No Muslim is harmed by it.” (Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim)
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also mentioned a very simple matter in the hadeeth with great importance. Because, he was an incomparably humane person. A guardian full of kindness, love and compassion.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Whoever chooses to enter Paradise after being saved from Hell should do so, so that his death may come to him at the time when he believes in Allah and the Hereafter. And he treats people the way he likes to treat himself.” (Muslim: 462).
Hajj: Message of Brotherhood and Unity
Hajj is an Arabic word meaning “to travel.” Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam, that every Muslim has to do, financially and physically, at least once in his or her lifetime, given. This precious place is voluntarily visited by all Muslims, as Allah has given this area a precedence over everything else.
The Hajj is a pilgrimage that occurs during the Islamic month of Dhu al-Hajj to the holy city of Mecca. All Muslims who are physically and financially able to make the pilgrimage are required to do so at least once in their lives. As said in Quran:
” وَاَتِمُّوا الۡحَجَّ وَالۡعُمۡرَةَ لِلّٰهِؕ “
“And complete the Hajj or Umrah in the service of Allah.” (Al-Baqarah: 196)
According to another narrative, the Prophet (SAW) acknowledged it as one of the pillars of Islam:
بُنِيَ الْإِسْلَامُ عَلَى خَمْسٍ ، شَهَادَةِ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ، وَإِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ ، وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ ، وَالْحَجِّ ، وَصَوْمِ رَمَضَانَ
“Islam is based on five fundamentals: to proclaim that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad (saw’s) is the Messenger of Allah, and to establish the prayer, and pay Zakat, to offer pilgrimage of the House [of God] and to fast during Ramadan.” (Bukhari, No: 7)
Allah (SWT) says this in the Quran about Hajj
“And publicly proclaim Pilgrimage for all mankind so that they come to you on foot and mounted on lean camels from every distant point.” (Surah Al-Haj: 27)
Pilgrims wear straight, white towels during the hajj. Men wear seamless clothes, undressed clothes and ladies clothe in straight white garments. The goal behind clothing simply is to cover up any income and rank inequalities. The Hajj makes Muslims realize that life here on earth and afterlife is truly important through the removal of all marks of social standing, riches and pride. Hajj is an opportunity to remove the slate of mistakes and weaknesses of the past.
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
“One who comes to this House for Hajj and avoids all lewdness and sins, he returns as he was on the day his mother gave birth to him.” (Bukhari & Muslim).
Hajj also sends a powerful message of brotherhood and unity, emphasizing the significance of Hajj in Islam. Because pilgrims are considered guests of Allah, the Hajj journey is the simplest way to obtain Allah’s satisfaction. According to Abu Hurairah (R.A), the Prophet (S.A.W.) addressed the people one day and said:
“O people! Allah has prescribed Hajj upon you, so perform it.
When a person decides to perform Hajj, he is frequently reminded that the chance is a gift from Allah. Only those who have been welcomed by God Himself are allowed to enter the Kaaba in Makkah, which is known as the “House of Allah.” Pilgrims are treated as Allah’s guests.”
Narrated by Abdullah bin Abbas (R.A.):
“Al-Fadl (his brother) was riding behind Allah’s Apostle and a woman from the tribe of Khath’am came and Al-Fadl started looking at her and she started looking at him. The Prophet turned Al-Fadl’s face to the other side. The woman said, “O Allah’s Apostle! The obligation of Hajj enjoined by Allah on His devotees has become due on my father and he is old and weak, and he cannot sit firm on the Mount; may I perform Hajj on his behalf?” The Prophet replied, “Yes, you may.” That happened during the Hajj-al-Wida (of the Prophet ).” (Volume 2, Book 26, Number 590)
Narrated by Ibn ‘Umar (R.A.):
“I saw that Allah’s Apostle used to ride on his Mount at Dhul Hulaifa and used to start saying, “Labbaik” when the Mount stood upright.”
Shukriah is the most important spirit associated with any act of worship, particularly Hajj. The pilgrimage to Mecca is a pilgrimage to God. It symbolizes the closest one can get to God while yet existing in our planet. The pilgrim also considers the day when he will die and be summoned to God. As a result, pilgrims assemble on the plain of Arafat to commemorate the time when they will assemble there on Judgment Day.
Two unstitched long sleeves of cloth are dressed up for all pilgrims. In God’s eyes all are equal. This symbolizes. This offers a powerful sense of fraternity, equality and humility, one of Hajj’s greatest themes. A full prophetic tradition, which extends from Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.) through Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), comes to life. The prophets were obedient to the Lord and were obedient to His will. Indeed, the events of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.), and his family are performed in the course of Haji. Hajj teaches us many of Allah’s critical lessons. Here are five essential spiritual truths from this sacred trek that we might learn.
- As Humans, We are All Equal.
Millions of Muslims from all walks of life and every corner of the globe converge to conduct the holy pilgrimage, reminding us that in Allah’s (S.W.T.) eyes, we are all equal as human beings. In the Holy Qur’an, Allah (S.W.T.) says:
“O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.” (49:13)
In his final sermon in Makkah, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) repeated this message, reminding his followers to treat women equally and not to distinguish between race, skin colour or nationality, as the only thing that distinguishes us is our taqwa (God-consciousness or piety). - Allah (S.W.T.) is the Most Merciful
Any able-bodied, sane Muslim who can afford to travel to Mecca must perform Hajj. All of our sins are pardoned when we perform this task. SubhanAllah, all previous sin is washed away as if we were a newborn kid or a new Muslim! Allah (S.W.T.) is so merciful! - Ease Comes with Difficulty
Running between Mounts Safa and Marwa, like Hajar (A.S.) did, is one of the many phases of Hajj. Hajar (A.S.)’s narrative is one of struggle, fortitude, and finally hope and patience, since she is one of Islam’s most venerated women and the wife of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.). We are reminded of her efforts when we run between these two mountains. Hajar (A.S.) tired and thirsty in the desert with a newborn baby – Prophet Ismail (A.S.) – dashed for water. Her patience and optimism were rewarded, however, when a spring erupted, supplying holy Zamzam water. This is a good example.
4 . We are More Powerful than Shaytan
During the ‘Stoning of the Devil’ another crucial lesson is delivered from Hajj. When we throw these stones, we remember that eventually we are stronger than Shaytan, Alhamudlillah. Even if he is capable of temptation, it is up to us to take refuge in Allah (S.W.T.). It is up to us to refuge from his evil. It is up to us, with His help.
- Allah (swt) is going to test us, but He is with us always.
Hajj is physical and emotional, although the prize is different from any other, subhanAllah! In this season especially, we remember the activities of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.) when we sacrifice an animal, and how Prophet Ismail nearly sacrificed his son (A.S.). It’s Al-Rahman, Al-Raheem always with us, look for us, SubhanAllah. It’s Al-Rahman who is Al-Rahman!
The Secrets of Autophagy
The words of Allah the Almighty: “O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you, as it was for those before you, that you may become righteous.” (Surat al-Baqara, 183)
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Fasting is a shield (to avoid sins). So the fasting person should not speak obscenely or behave ignorantly. If someone tries to quarrel with him or insults him, he will say to him twice, I am fasting. He further said, I swear by the entity in whose hands my life is! The stench of the mouth of the fasting person is better than the fragrance of musk in the sight of Allah Almighty. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): “Fasting is for Me, except for food, drink, and lust.” So I will give him a special reward for fasting. And the reward for good deeds will be given up to ten times.” (Sahih Bukhari, Volume I, Page 333)
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said that whoever prays Shabe Qadr and fasts Ramadan with faith and belief in the hope of thawab, all his past sins will be forgiven.” (Bukhari, 1/334)
The Holy Qur’an mentions – “Ramadan is the month in which the Qur’an was revealed which is a guide for mankind and a clear proof of guidance and furqan (i.e. distinguishing between right and wrong). So whoever of you gets this month, let him fast in it, but whoever is ill and on a journey, then he should complete the reckoning on another day. Glory be to Him that He has guided you, and that you may be grateful” (Surat al-Baqara: 175).
In this context, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Ramadan and the Qur’an will recommend for the servant. Rosa will say, God! I have restrained him from eating and drinking, so accept my recommendation for him. And the Qur’an will say, I prevented him from sleeping at night and did not let him sleep, so accept my recommendation for him. Their recommendation will be accepted.” (Bayhaqi).
Autophagy is a self-activating process in which the body “cleans” itself at the cellular level. A small group of obese males with Pridebitis was studied by researchers at the University of Alabama. They contrasted an intermittent fasting method known as “initial time-limited feeding,” in which all meals are consumed within the first eight hours of the day (8 a.m. to 3 p.m.) or spread out over 12 hours (from 6 a.m. to 6 a.m.). Both groups maintained their weight, but the eight-hour group had considerably lower insulin levels and better insulin sensitivity after five weeks. The appetite of the eight-hour team has drastically decreased. They weren’t hungry at all.
Dr. Razzin Mahroof (Oxford University) says that using lipids for energy can protect muscles and lower cholesterol levels, in addition to weight loss. For instance, Medical News Today stated in June 2014 that a study introducing phased fasting – defined as one week of fasting per week – may lessen the incidence of diabetes in persons who are at risk for the disease. In recent years, numerous studies have suggested that intermittent fasting – eating or drinking infrequently or lowering it – may be beneficial to our health, and it may be one of the most popular food fads worldwide. The necessity of fasting for health benefits are of following:
Reduces the Risk of Diabetes: Patients with diabetes always have to be extra careful when it comes to calorie intake. A separate restriction applies to the intake of calories on the day of Ramadan. So if you fast, the risk of getting diabetes is less. (Barnosky-2014)
Keeps Old Age Away: There are hardly any people who are not afraid of old age. Aging makes both body and mind burdened and helpless. Fasting increases longevity and eliminates the problems associated with aging. (Matson and One-2005)
Increasing the Performance of the Brain: Fasting in Ramadan undoubtedly creates a kind of positive feeling in the body and mind. If you fast for two days, the rate of growth of hormones in the body increases five times. Fasting in Ramadan gives birth to new cells in the brain. As a result, the efficiency of the brain increases. (Li-2000)
Helps to Reduce Fat: Many people are suffering from many problems due to overeating. That is why Islam is not in favor of overeating. Excessive food intake leads to accumulation of a lot of fat in the body, as a result of which the body becomes abnormally fat, which disrupts normal life. But when fasting, the fat accumulated in the body is used for body work and as a result blood circulation becomes normal. (Mansell-1990)
Increased Hormone Levels: When people fast, the hormones they require to maintain their body levels rise. The protein brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), which interacts with neurons in the hippocampus, cortex, and basal forebrain, is increased by fasting.
Yoshinori Ohsumi, Japanese cell biologist known for his work in elucidating the mechanisms of autophagy, a process by which cells degrade and recycle proteins and other cellular components. Ohsumi’s research played a key role in helping to uncover the critical physiological activities of autophagy, including its function in helping cells adapt to various types of stress, contributing to embryo development, and eliminating damaged proteins. For his discoveries relating to autophagy, Ohsumi was awarded the 2016 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine.
According to new lifestyle books, the process can be “turned on” by dietary and lifestyle adjustments, such as fasting, which is already popular among individuals who follow the 5: 2 or Fast Diet. Glow 15, a new book by Naomi Whittel, a self-described “wellness adventurer,” lays out a 15-day plan that involves 16-hour fasts three times a week, protein reduction on some days, carbohydrate intake later in the day, and high-intensity activity intervals. She claims she discovered a number of benefits in preliminary tests of the therapy on volunteers at Jacksonville University in Florida.
Dr Rubinsztein says none of these lifestyle recommendations are going to do you any harm. Research suggests that some of the most important autophagy benefits include: Providing cells with molecular building blocks and energy; recycling damaged proteins, organelles and aggregates; regulating functions of cells ’mitochondria, which help produce energy but can be damaged by oxidative stress; clearing damaged endoplasmic reticulum and peroxisomes; protecting the nervous system and encouraging growth of brain and nerve cells; Autophagy seems to improve cognitive function, brain structure and neuroplasticity; Supporting growth of heart cells and protecting against heart disease; enhancing the immune system by eliminating intracellular pathogens; defending against misfolded, toxic proteins that contribute to a number of amyloid diseases; protecting stability of DNA; preventing damage to healthy tissues and organs (known as necrosis); potentially fighting cancer, neurodegenerative disease and other illnesses.
Zikir and Darood Bring Peace in the Heart
Real happiness and peace can be found in submitting to the commands of the Creator and the Sustainer of this world. Allah has said in the Quran:
اَلَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَتَطْمَٮِٕنُّ قُلُوْبُهُمْ بِذِكْرِ اللّٰهِ ؕ اَلَا بِذِكْرِ اللّٰهِ تَطْمَٮِٕنُّ الْقُلُوْبُ ؕ
“Truly, in remembering Allah do hearts find rest.” (Quran, 13:28)
On the other hand, the one who turns away from the Quran will have a life of hardship in this world. Allah has also said:
وَمَنْ اَعْرَضَ عَنْ ذِكْرِىْ فَاِنَّ لَـهٗ مَعِيْشَةً ضَنْكًا وَّنَحْشُرُهٗ يَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِ اَعْمٰى
“But whoever turns away from the Quran, he will have a hard life, and We will raise him up blind on the Day of Judgment.” (Quran, 20:124)
Allah declares,
“So remember Me, I will remember you. And be grateful to Me and do not be ungrateful.” (Surat al-Baqara: 152)
Self-development is the only means of communication with Allah. The bond of love of the Creator with the servant is strengthened more and more in the remembrance of Allah. In the words of the Holy Qur’an, “He guides those who turn to Him, those who believe, and those whose hearts are at peace in the remembrance of God. Know that the remembrance of God is the peace of mind.”
Allah has said,
“Remember your Lord with a humble and fearful heart in a low voice, morning and evening, and you will not be indifferent.” (Surah Al-A’raf: 205)
The one who is truly wise and intelligent is the one who meditates on Allah while standing or sitting, while lying down, and thinks and researches about all the creations of the heavens and the earth. Satan can never distract them from their prayers, fasting, and good deeds.
Once a Companion prayed, “O Messenger of Allah! Teach me something that I can do properly. ‘He said,’ May your tongue be always fresh with the remembrance of Allah. ‘Hazrat Abu Darda (R.A.) said,’ Whose tongue will be fresh with the remembrance of Allah, They will enter Paradise laughing. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Everything has a rust-cleaning device and the rust-cleaning device of the heart is the remembrance of Allah.”(Bayhaqi)
Zikir bringing peace and spaciousness in heart, creating love for the Creator, opening the door to forgiveness. Protects the fasting person from backbiting, slander, lying, evil deeds and bad words. The heart is alive and fertile because of Zikir. It is narrated in the hadith, “Whoever sits silently and remembers Allah and his tears begin to flow, Allah will give him shelter in the shadow of His mercy.” (Bukhari and Muslim)
Allah said:
“And whoever turns away from My remembrance, his provision will be straitened, and I will raise him blind on the Day of Resurrection.” ( Surah Ta’ha: 124)
Allah says:
“Who will remember Allah much, that you may be successful?” (Anfal: 45)
“Those who are guided to Allah are those who believe and whose hearts are at rest in the remembrance of Allah. Know that only the remembrance of Allah calms the heart.” (Surah Raad: 28)
“Those who believe are such that when the name of Allah is mentioned before them, their hearts become terrified.” (Surah Anfal: 2)
“Whose hearts tremble with fear when the name of Allah is remembered.” (Hajj: 35)
Allah says: “O you who believe! Remember Allah much and glorify Him morning and evening.” (Ahzab: 41).”
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The Shaytaan is sitting in the heart of the son of Adam, whenever he recites the Qur’aan, and whenever the recitation of the Qur’aan is stopped, he plots.” (Musannafe Abi Shaybah: 35919)
Narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (R.A.): “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Allah will place seven people in the shadow of the Throne. … the one who remembers Allah alone and tears flow from his eyes.” (Bukhari, Hadi: 6469)
Narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (R.A.), in a hadith in Qudsi, Allah Ta’ala said, “I stay with the servant as long as he remembers me and his lips move because of my remembrance.” (Musnad Ahmad, Hadith: 1096; Ibn Majah, Hadith: 3692)
Narrated by Abu Hurairah (R.A.) and Abu Sayyid (R.A.), “The Messenger of Allah, (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: When some people remember Allah, the angels surround them, Allah’s mercy covers them and the chakina descends on them, and Allah Ta’ala is before His nearest angels. Mention them.” (Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 600; Shuabul Iman, Hadith: 530)
Hazrat Mu’adh Ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: There is no deed that saves more from the torment than the remembrance of Allah.” (Majmauz Zawaid, Hadith: 1845)
Allah says, “Those who believe and whose hearts find peace through the remembrance of Allah, know that it is through the remembrance of Allah that their hearts find peace.” (Surah Rad: verse 26)
Narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah Radiyallahu Anhu, he said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Allah says: The servant will find me as he thinks of me. I stay with her when she remembers me. If he remembers me in his heart then I also remember him in my heart. And if he remembers me to a people, I remember him to a people better than them. If he comes forward half a hand towards me then I come forward one hand towards him. And if he comes forward with one hand, I come forward with both hands outstretched towards him. If he walks towards me I walk towards him quickly.” (Bukhari and Muslim)
In another hadith narrated from Hazrat Abu Musa Ash’ari (may Allah be pleased with him), he said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “The example of the one who remembers his Lord and the one who does not remember is like that of the living and the dead.” (Bukhari)
Allah has said: “Call on your Lord humbly and secretly. Surely Allah does not love those who exceed the limits.” (Surat al-A’raf: 55)
From the verses of Surah A’raf, it is proved that it is better to recite softly. When the sound of takbeer of the Companions in the battle of Khaibar became louder, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “O people, be gentle, call in a humble voice … You are not calling anyone deaf or missing.” (Muslim)
“Hazrat Hasan Basri (Rah.) Said that the earlier scholars used to spend most of their time in remembrance and supplication of Allah; But no one could hear them. However, in the places where the Shari’ah has instructed to recite loudly and loudly, it is better to recite loudly. For example, Azan, Iqamat, recitation of the Qur’an, takbeer of prayers, tashreeq in takbeer and labbaika of Hajj etc. are better to say aloud.”
Narrated by Abu Huraira (R.A.): “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Allah has a group of angels who roam the streets in search of people who are engaged in the remembrance of Allah. When they see people chanting somewhere, one of them calls out to the other, “Come here to do your duty.” Then they all gathered together and covered the people with their wings up to the heavens of the earth. When their Lord (Allah) asks them what My servants are saying, they say, “They are glorifying You, glorifying You, praising You, and proclaiming Your Majesty.” Then he (Allah) asks: Have they seen me? They (angels) said: O our Lord! I swear to you! They didn’t see you. He said, if they see me? They said, “If they had seen you, they would have worshiped you more, described your greatness, and glorified you more and more.” He said what do they want from me? They said: They ask you for Paradise. He asked: Have they seen Paradise? The angels said: No, I swear by your being! O Rob! They did not see it. He asks: What would they do if they saw it? The angels said: They were more expecting Paradise and more anxious for it.”
Allah will then ask: “From what do they seek refuge? The angels said, from hell. He asked: Have they seen Hell? The angels said: By God! They didn’t see it. He asks: What would they do if they saw it (hell)? They said they would have been more scared if they had seen it. Then Allah Ta’ala said, “Bear witness, I have forgiven them.” One of them said, “Such a person does not belong to that group in the jikir mahfil.” He has appeared there for other needs. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): They belong to a Majlis in which no one turns away.” (Bukhari Sharif).
Hadrat Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “I have heard the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) say that the best remembrance is “La-ilaha illallah” and the best supplication is “Al-Hamdulillah.”
“The person who always remembers Allah and remembers Allah is in peace. The source of peace is the heart. Allah Ta’ala says, know that the remembrance of Allah calms the heart.” (Surat al-Ra’d: 27)
“Get rid of Satan’s temptations through jikir. It is mentioned in the Holy Qur’an that those who guard (against evil) remember Allah when Satan plots against them. At that moment, their eyes were opened.” (Surah: Araf, verse: 201).
Darood brings peace in the heart of a believer
Reading Darood is a great way to get God’s mercy, an easy way to gain peace. The perfection of faith depends on the love of the Prophet. But Darood is an always acceptable deed, which Allah accepts as soon as one reads it. Allah Himself recites Darood and Salam to him. It has been said in the Holy Quran,
“Surely Allah showers mercy on the Prophet and the angels pray. O you who believe, recite to him more and more darood and send more salutations.” (Surat al-Ahzab, verse: 56)
Explaining the above verse, Abul Alia said: “Salatullah, that is, the purpose of showering Allah’s mercy is that Allah Ta’ala praises the Prophet to the angels. And the purpose of ‘Salatul Malaika’ is that the angels pray for mercy for the Prophet.” (Sahih Bukhari: 2/606)
It is obligatory to recite darood to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) when he says and hears his name. However, if you say and hear it repeatedly, it is obligatory to recite the darood for the first time, and it is mustahab for the second time. Just as Darood and Salam are obligatory when uttered orally, so is it obligatory if written in pen. It is obligatory to read darood once in a lifetime. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Let him be humiliated who does not recite the darood when my name is uttered in front of him.” (Mishkat, hadeeth: 928)
Many virtues of reciting Darood have been described in the Qur’an-Hadith. Anas ibn Malik (R.A.) said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, ‘Whoever recites the darood on me once, Allah will shower him with ten blessings. Forgive his 10 sins. He will increase his rank by ten.” (Sunan Nasa’i, Hadith: 1296)
Punishment of the one who neglects: If one recites the darood on the Prophet (PBUH), one can be entitled to the same dignity. Narrated by Ali (R.A.), “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: The stingy person is the one to whom my name is mentioned, but he does not recite the darood on me.” (Jame Tirmidhi, Hadith: 3547)
