Pharaoh’s Cruel Consequences and Education for Mankind

Pharaoh’s body is said to have been found in 181 in a river valley in Egypt (in the middle of a mountain, through which the river flows). However, Allah Almighty has mentioned the incident of Pharaoh in the Holy Qur’an 1400 years ago. According to historians, when Pharaoh’s body was found, it was about 3,000 years old. Pharaoh did not respond to the call of Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) but went beyond the bounds of oppression and tyranny. Then, when the life of Pharaoh’s tyranny came to an end, Allah the Almighty drowned that disobedient person in the river and saved his dead body as a sign for mankind. In this regard, Surah Bani Isra’il says: Musa(PBUH) said:
قَالَ لَقَدْ عَلِمْتَ مَاۤ اَنْزَلَ هٰٓؤُلَاۤءِ اِلَّا رَبُّ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ بَصَآٮِٕرَ‌ ۚ وَاِنِّىْ لَاَظُنُّكَ يٰفِرْعَوْنُ مَثْبُوْرًا
“Thou knowest well that the Lord of the heavens and the earth hath sent down these signs as a clear proof.” O Pharaoh! I think your destruction is imminent!”
فَاَرَادَ اَنْ يَّسْتَفِزَّهُمْ مِّنَ الْاَرْضِ فَاَغْرَقْنٰهُ وَ مَنْ مَّعَهٗ جَمِيْعًا
“Then Pharaoh decided to drive them out of their land. Then We drowned Pharaoh and all who were with him.” (Surah: Bani Isra’il, verses: 102-103)
Allah Almighty says –
فَالْيَوْمَ نُـنَجِّيْكَ بِبَدَنِكَ لِتَكُوْنَ لِمَنْ خَلْفَكَ اٰيَةً  ؕ وَاِنَّ كَثِيْرًا مِّنَ النَّاسِ عَنْ اٰيٰتِنَا لَغٰفِلُوْنَ
“Now I will only save your body so that you can be a lesson for later generations.” However, there are many people who are heedless of Our revelations.”(Surah Yunus: 92)
Elsewhere, Allah informs us of the terrible condition of Pharaoh:
هٰذَا بَلٰغٌ لِّـلنَّاسِ وَلِيُنْذَرُوْا بِهٖ وَلِيَـعْلَمُوْۤا اَنَّمَا هُوَ اِلٰـهٌ وَّاحِدٌ وَّلِيَذَّكَّرَ اُولُوا الْا َلْبَابِ
“This is a proclamation for all mankind that they may be warned by it, and that they may know that their God is none but the One True God, and that men of understanding may take heed.” (Surah Ibrahim: 52)
The Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) came to the Children of Israel and Pharaoh with nine clear signs. Despite these signs, most of the Children of Israel and Pharaoh did not believe. Pharaoh, the tyrant ruler of Egypt, ridiculed Musa (AS) as a magician instead of believing in his miraculous powers. His answer is given in the first verse in question. Musa (PBUH) said against the slander of Pharaoh’s magic,”What I demonstrated was not magic, but it was an act beyond the power of man, which I did under the direction of the Lord of the universe. My responsibility is just to convey the message of the Lord of the Worlds.”
“And it is natural that those who do not accept the message of the Lord of the universe, their destruction is inevitable. So Musa (AS) said, O Pharaoh! I must think that your destruction is imminent!”
The second verse deals with the expulsion of Musa (peace be upon him) and his followers. The oppressive Pharaoh chose the path of murder and eviction to silence the voice of truth. But Pharaoh did not know that Musa (AS) had his Lord with him, who was with him at all times. For this reason, when Pharaoh and his army chased Musa (AS) and his companions to expel them from their homeland, Pharaoh drowned in the sea with his army. And thus does Allah show His power.
Musa (PBUH) invited Pharaoh and his followers to the truth for a long time. But they rejected his call and chose the path of various forms of oppression and persecution. After a long struggle, when Musa (PBUH) realized that Pharaoh and his entourage would never return to the truth, he cursed them. Allah the Almighty accepts his curse. He cursed Pharaoh and his courtiers for destroying their lives and property. According to various accounts, 40 years after the curse of Musa (AS) Pharaoh and his army were drowned in the sea.
Pharaoh’s nation is one of the first six nations of the world to be destroyed by God’s wrath. Allah has described Pharaoh in 75 places in 26 Surahs of the Qur’aan. This is the most discussed subject in the Qur’an. Through this the new pharaohs have been warned. The Prophet Musa (AS) and Aaron, who were sent to Pharaoh, are the most discussed in the Qur’an. One of the reasons for this is that the miraculous power of Musa (peace be upon him) was greater than that of other Prophets. Again, the incidents of ignorance and recklessness of his people, the children of Israel, were more talked about than the previous ummahs. The repeated mention of Pharaoh in the Qur’an indicates that Pharaohs will come under different names from age to age. The pattern of their persecution of believers will be almost the same, although the method will be different.
In 1981, the then French President Francois Mitterrand requested the Egyptian government to send the mummified Pharaoh’s body to France for examination and research. When the plane carrying the Pharaoh’s body landed on French soil, many high-ranking French officials, including the country’s head of government and cabinet, arrived at the airport to receive the body. It was as if Pharaoh was still alive and he was the real ruler of France. After the reception, Pharaoh’s body was taken to a special archive in France. The country’s best surgeons and autopsy experts and researchers and archaeologists are gathered there. The purpose of this step was to examine the mummified corpse of Pharaoh and to unravel its unknown mysteries.
Maurice Bucaille was the head of the research team on Pharaoh’s corpse. Although other researchers intended to preserve Pharaoh’s body, Bucaille himself was anxious to unravel the mystery of Pharaoh’s death. He spent the night researching. After several hours of research, some salt residue was found in Pharaoh’s body. As a result, it is clear that Pharaoh drowned in the sea. After his death, his body was lifted from the sea and mummified. But Bucaille’s astonishment was heightened by the question: How is this corpse more preserved or intact than other corpses?
When Bucaille was preparing the final report on the cause of Pharaoh’s death and wrote that Pharaoh had drowned in the sea, one of his companions told him that it would be better not to rush to publish the results of the study. Because, the results of this study are going in favor of the opinion of Muslims. Bucaille denied it. Because, according to him, it is impossible to reach such a result. Bucaille felt that it would not be possible to prove it without the great advancement of science and the use of highly advanced equipment or perfect equipment and advanced computers. Bucaille was then told that according to Muslim scriptures, Pharaoh had drowned and his body remained intact. Surprised to hear this, Bucaille thought, is it logical at all? This is because the Arab nations of Muhammad (S.A.W.)’s time and others did not know how to mummify Pharaoh’s body through the Egyptians. Maurice Bucaille stared at Pharaoh’s corpse all night, wondering how the Qur’an knew how to rescue a drowned Pharaoh’s corpse. However, the Christian Bible does not say anything about the rescue of Pharaoh’s body.
He asked himself, is this the Pharaoh who ran after the Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) to arrest him? About 1400 years ago, Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W.). Did you know that- is it possible to believe? The restless Bucaille began reading the Bible and the Torah that night. In a chapter of the Torah, he was reading, “When the water came back, the horses that followed him, including Pharaoh, devoured all of his army. None of them survived.” Bucaille was surprised to read this part. A few days later, the French government sent Pharaoh’s mummy back to Egypt in a glass coffin. But Bucaille’s head was still bewildered by the Qur’anic statement about Pharaoh. He decided to visit Muslim countries to be sure of the Qur’anic statement regarding the preservation of Pharaoh’s body. At a medical conference in Saudi Arabia, French surgeon Bucaille cited new research into the “Rescue of a drowned Pharaoh’s body.”
A group of human body analysts and Muslims were also present at the conference. At that moment, a Muslim opened the Holy Qur’an and recited verse 92 of Surah Yunus, which said, “Today I will protect your (Pharaoh’s) body, so that you may be a sign for those after you.” Indeed, many of mankind are heedless of Our signs.” (Surah Yunus, verse 92)
On hearing this verse, Bucaille stood in front of everyone and declared to be a Muslim and a believer in the Holy Quran. Seeing the truth of the Qur’an being revealed in this way, tears flowed from the eyes of many and a storm of change in their hearts. For many years, Bucaille did not find any discrepancies in his research, looking for similarities and differences in the Qur’an with new scientific information. As a result, his belief that there is nothing wrong with the Qur’an has only become stronger. He presented the results of these studies in a book entitled The Qur’an, the Torah, the Bible and Science. Even 1400 years ago, the Qur’an presented such a subtle aspect of science so accurately that his endless wonder is described in this book. As a result, it has caused a storm of surprise even among Western scientists.
The book has been translated into many languages. Many non-Muslims have become Muslims after reading this book. Bucaille recited this verse of the Qur’an in harmony with the information given by the Qur’an in connection with the study of Pharaoh: “Does not Araki look at the Qur’an? If it had been from someone other than Allah, he would have seen so many contradictions or mistakes.” (Al Quran)
Dr. Maurice Bucaille returned to France in a different situation. He did not practice medicine in France for 10 years, but studied the Holy Qur’an. At last he realized the importance of this verse of the Holy Qur’an which says,
لَّا يَاْتِيْهِ الْبَاطِلُ مِنْۢ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَلَا مِنْ خَلْفِهٖ‌ؕ تَنْزِيْلٌ مِّنْ حَكِيْمٍ حَمِيْدٍ
“It has no effect on lies, neither from the front nor from the back. It is a revelation from the Wise, the Praiseworthy.” (Surah Hamim Sajdah, 41:42)
