Black Cumin is the Cure for all Diseases Except Death

Ibn e Sina, the Persian physicist and philosopher, discussed in a text Canon of Medicine the black cumin seed which is considered to be an outstanding publication in human medical history and was used as the main European medical literature until the 17th century. The Prophet of Islam, Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) who is seen as one of the most influential figures in history, reportedly said as narrated by Abu Huraira (R.A):
I have heard from Rasool Allah (PBUH) that,” There is a cure for every disease in black seeds except death and black seeds are Shooneez.”
Ibn Hajar, the famous Islamic scholar in his interpretation of the Hadith said:
“The logic behind the black seed being healing for all diseases is not necessarily that it is to be used on its own for every ailment; rather it may be used on its own or it may be used with other things; it may be used ground up or otherwise; it may be used in food or drink or nose drops or a compress and otherwise. And it was said that the words every disease mean that every disease is treatable with it.”
Salim Bin Abdullah (R.A.) narrates with reference to his father Hazrat Abdullah Bin Omar (R.A.) that Rasool Allah (PBUH) said, “Let fall these black seeds upon you, these contain a cure for all diseases except death.”
Black Cumin in Science
The black cumin seeds are renowned for their miraculous healing powers and are utilized for various diseases. The famous health benefits of black cumin have proven wide-ranging. Many were only evaluated in tube or animal trials. Even though further research is needed, you may have a good impact on numerous elements of your health by adding or taking black cumin as a supplement.
The main active element of the Black Cumin Seeds is Thymoquinone, which can also have tumor-reduction capabilities as an anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory substance. Black cumin is also indicated for usage in cancer patients, thus for treating a number of tumors, inflammations.
In October 1999, the European magazine of Cancer published an article on the effect of thymoquinone on abdomen cancer in rats. Likewise, in May 1998, a magazine specialized in anti-cancer researches published an article on the extracts of the Black Seed as a treatment for cancer tumors. On April 2000, the Ethanol Medical magazine wrote about the toxicity and immunity effects of ethanol extracted from the Black Seeds. Also, in February 1995, Medical Plants magazine published an article on the effects of the Black Seed stable oil and thymoquinone on white blood cells. Many other researches came out supporting these facts.
The Black Seed has also been identified as high in the above nutrients by Dr. Michael Tierra, author of Planetary Herbology. Moreover, a significant amount of sterols were discovered, in particular beta-sitosterol, known to have anti-cancerous characteristics. Black Seed has a multitude of beneficial qualities, including antihistamines, antioxidants, antibiotics, antimycotics and broncho-dilatory effects, finds in The Journal of American Scientists.
Khalid bin Sa’d (R.A.) said, “We went out and with us was Ghalib bin Abjar (ra). He fell sick along the way and when we came to al-Madinah, he was sick. Ibn Abu ‘Atiq (ra) came to visit him and said to us, ‘You should use this black seed. Take five or seven (seeds) and grind them then apply them to his nostrils with drops of olive oil on this side and on this side for Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated to them that she heard the Messenger (saw) say, “This black seed is a cure for every disease except death.” [Saheeh Sunan ibn Majah (3449)].
Ibnul Qaiyum (may Allah have mercy upon him) said, “It has immense benefits and his statement that it is a cure for every disease except death is like the statement of Allah.”
Anti-Inflammatory
As early as 1960, Professor El-Dakhakny reported that Black Seed Oil has an anti-inflammatory effect and that it could be useful for relieving the effects of Arthritis. In 1995, a group of scientists at the Pharmacology Research Laboratories, Department of Pharmacy, Kings College, London, decided to test the effectiveness of the fixed Oil of Nigella Sativa and its derivative, thymoquinine, as an anti-inflammatory agent. Their study found that the oil inhibited eicosanoid generation and demonstrated anti-oxidant activity in cells.
In 1997, studies conducted at the Microbiological Unit of the Research Center, College of Pharmacy, King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, found that externally in an ointment form, the anti-inflammatory activity of the Black Seed was found to be in the same range as that of other similar commercial products. The tests also demonstrated that the Black Seed is non-allergenic.
Promotes Lactation
A study by Agarwhal (1979) showed that Black Seed Oil increases the milk output of breastfeeding mothers. A literature search by the University of Potchefstroom (1989), including biological abstracts, revealed that Black Seed’s capacity to increase the milk flow of nursing mothers could be attributed to a combination of lipid portion and hormonal structures found in the Black Seed. “Our beloved Prophet (PBUH) said: “For every disease there is a remedy and when the remedy is made apparent, and then the disease is cured by the permission of Allah Almighty'”. (Muslim)
He also said : “He who has put diseases on the earth, has also put its remedy there”. [Tirmidi]
Ibnul Qaiyum (may Allah have mercy upon him) said, “The black seed helps against all types of cold ailments… when ground, blended with honey and drunk with some water, it will dissolve the stones that appear in the kidney and the prostate…it increases the flow during menstruation and the production of milk if it is drunk for several days… When it is heated with vinegar and placed on the stomach it will eliminate worms. It also clears up, decomposes and relieves cold symptoms when it is ground, placed in a rag and inhaled through the nose on a regular basis until the ailment is cured. Black seed oil… when twenty-five grams of it is drunk with water, it will help against gasping and hard breathing…”[Translated ‘Medicine of the Prophet’ by Ibnul Qaiyum (may Allah have mercy upon him)
The same narration is found in Sanad-e-Ahmed from Hazrat Aisha (R.A.) and in Ibn-al-Jozi & Tirmizi from Abu Huraira. Hazrat Buraida narrates that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) stated “Shooneez is a cure for all ailments except death.”
This emphasizes the significance of Black Seeds in Islamic history for healing, protection and makes one realize, the potent nature of this heavenly plant that can do wonders to the human body.
The effectiveness of the Black Seed is being investigated further. In other nations, research trials are also planned to explore its real human impacts. We do not, however, have to search beyond the words of Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam (may Allah rejoice in his mention) of the Prophet which tell you there is healing. As long as we trust in Allah (may Allah elevate his mention), we all will show the ability that a great plant may treat all diseases, as long as we trust Allah and take his prescription
