The Simple Life of Muhammad (S.A.W.)

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was a great liberal and humble personality to be imitated and followed by mankind. He is the only source of good character and generosity. Nabi Karim (S.A.W.) is a social reformer, a brave warrior, a skilled administrator, a worthy statesman and a successful preacher.
He is the best ideal in every good deed. Recognizing his extraordinary sweetness and incomparable personality, the Holy Qur’an has said, “There is a good example for you in the Messenger of God.” (Surah Al-Ahzab: 21).
He was able to become the confidant of the barbaric Arab nation with his unforgettable forgiveness, generosity, humility, honesty, etc. That is why they awarded him the title of ‘Al-Amin’ or Faithful. They have unanimously acknowledged that he was humble and virtuous. He has been able to subdue the people of the world not by money but by his good behavior and honesty. Concerning His attributes, Allah has declared, “Surely you are of a noble character.” (Surah Al-Kalam: 4)
He never despised or despised people out of self-respect. By treating all people irrespective of race, religion, caste, creed and opinion, he has established an incomparable ideal of superior character in the heart of the world. Humility and modesty were always present in his character. He was sent to earth for the welfare of the world as an implementer and trainer of the best ideals. In this regard, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “I have been sent to fulfill the perfection of good character.” (Musnad Ahmad, Mishkat)
The paradise environment will prevail in every one of our families only when we follow the example of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Following and imitating that ideology will remove all unrest from the society and the country. That is why the great Lord declares in the Qur’an:
“Surely there is the best example for you in the life of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Those who hope in Allah and the Last Day, and remember Allah much.”
He was the greatest ideal man of all time, having a selfless, humble, kind, simple and unpretentious life. Once a man came to the court of the Prophet Karim (peace be upon him) and noticed his tough personality and seriousness and started trembling with fear.
The search for such a rare personality has never matched in the history of the world. In this way, he issued a stern warning to the people, saying, “Allah has sent down revelation to me instructing me to be humble and humble.” Let no one follow the path of pride and arrogance over others and let no one oppress anyone.” (Muslim)
He was largely self-sufficient. He would not be dependent on anyone for his own needs. He used to repair shoes with his own hands and sew clothes. He used to grind flour by helping the servants. He used to make bread with his own hands and eat it with his family. He used to bring it from the market by bargaining. If any member of the family asked for help in any work, he would respond for help.
When asked about his family activities, Hazrat Ayesha (R.A.) said, “Rasulullah (S.AW) used to be engaged in the welfare of the family while he was at home. When it was time for prayers, he would get up for prayers. He divided the time of day and night into three parts. One part used to worship. The other part of the family did all the housework. And he used to spend a part of his time in the public service of the poor and needy. If there was no emergency, this rule would not have been violated.” (Al Hadith)
“Despite his responsibilities as a prophet, a teacher, a statesman, and a judge, Muhammad used to milk his goat, mend his clothes, repair his shoes, help with the household work, and visit poor people when they got sick. He also helped his companions in digging a trench by moving sand with them. His life was an amazing model of simplicity and humbleness.” (Mosnad Ahmad, 25662; Saheeh Al-Bukhari, 676; Mosnad Ahmad, 25517; Saheeh Al-Bukhari, 676; Mosnad Ahmad, 23706; Mowatta’ Malek, 531; Saheeh Al-Bukhari, 3034; Saheeh Muslim, 1803; and Mosnad Ahmad, 18017)
“Muhammad’s followers loved him, respected him, and trusted him to an amazing extent. Yet he continued to emphasize that deification should be directed to God and not to him personally. Anas, one of Muhammad’s companions, said that there was no person whom they loved more than the Prophet Muhammad , yet when he came to them, they did not stand up for him because he hated their standing up for him, as other people do with their great people.” (Mosnad Ahmad, 12117 and Al-Tirmizi, 2754)
The Following are some of these verses:
“A revelation from (God), the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful; a Book whereof the verses are explained in detail; a Quran in Arabic, for people who know, giving good news and warning, yet most of them turn away, so they do not listen.” (Quran, 41:2-4)
“On another occasion and in response to his uncle’s plea to stop calling people to Islam, Muhammad (S.A.W.)’s answer was as decisive and sincere: {I swear by the name of God, O Uncle!, that if they place the sun in my right-hand and the moon in my left-hand in return for giving up this matter (calling people to Islam), I will never desist until either God makes it triumph or I perish defending it.”} (Al-Serah Al-Nabaweyyah, Ibn Hesham, vol. 1, pp. 265-266)
